Kura was founded by regular people, not insurance insiders, who realised that there was a fairer way of doing things. We saw an industry stuck in old paradigms and that Kiwis were the one's footing the bill for the lack of activity.
It was a big problem to solve, but we quickly set out getting the best possible help. Our partners give us the confidence that we can protect and serve you in the way we envisioned.
Johan and I dreamt up Kura together while I was working under him at Cartrack. We couldn't work out why nobody in NZ was doing UBI - so we decided to do it ourselves. I now look after Kura as a product and a business.
I stumbled across the concept of UBI, and for the life of me couldn't figure out why nobody was doing it yet in New Zealand. I went to Johan with my findings, and we decided that if nobody else was going to give it go, then it may as well be us. That started the long process that led to this - Kura.
I have learned the ropes of the insurance industry from scratch (still learning) with support from many incredible people, completed my NZ Certificate of Financial Services for General Insurance (level 5), and somehow ended up launching an insurance company (20 year old me did not see this coming).
I strongly believe that New Zealanders deserve the best, and I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to deliver my fellow Kiwis something that is genuinely new, and in my opinion, provides a much needed alternative to traditional insurance.
When I'm not working I am at home wrangling a house full of kids or hiding in a cupboard reading a book.
