Usage-Based Insurance
Usage-Based Insurance (UBI) means your premium reflects your real driving instead of a flat rate built for the average driver. There are two main ways insurers do this - here's where Kura sits and why.
Prices your premium on how much distance you travel. More time on the road means more chance of a crash, and a claim, so your premium reflects that. Drive less. Pay less.
Prices on driving behaviour itself. Things like braking, cornering, speed, and location are measured in real time. Better driving. Better premium.
Diamond icons not supplied The board writes "Road" and "Steering wheel" inside the two white diamonds as instructions for the illustration that goes there. The words are kept visible until the artwork arrives.
Although our device tracks the data required for PHYD, distance is the only thing we use for pricing at this stage.
For now we've kept it simple for you.
A small concealed device is hardwired into your vehicle to accurately measure distance.
Seamless setup. Installed professionally, free of charge, whenever and wherever works best for you.
Immediate protection. Your cover starts the moment your policy begins, not when the device is fitted.
Built-in security. Includes Stolen-Vehicle-Recovery as an added layer of protection.
Lifetime reliability: Devices covered by a lifetime warranty as long as you're with Kura.
Distance sets your price. Alongside that, your device also records GPS location, speed, acceleration, braking, cornering, and trip times. None of this information affects your premium today. If you make a claim, our team can access it for 48 hours around the incident ot help verify what happened..That's it for now. We may choose to use your data to further improve our product range, but when we do it will be anonymised, and you will be informed directly.
No. Your data is never sold or used for marketing purposes. Full detail on what is collected and why is in our Privacy Policy.
A dedicated hardwired unit gives consistent, uninterrupted, accurate data without any drain on your phone's battery, or mobile data, with no risk of recording a trip while you're a passenger in someone else's car.
Let us know and we'll coordinate the removal or transfer of your device into a new vehicle, quickly and without hassle or cost to you.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, but a device is required to stay on Pay-Per-K, since accurate distance measurement is required to make the pricing work. If you'd rather not have one fitted, our standalone comprehensive product doesn't use a device at all.
